REGISTRATION & MEASUREMENT
1. Registration
The hull must be registered with the Class Registrar who will issue a Provisional number. Measurement must be completed within one year. If the measurement is not completed within this time limit , the number will lapse and may be issued to another applicant. The last two digits of this number can be used as a sail number or a personalised number can be requested from the appropriate Registrar for personal numbers. Within any MYA District only three identical sail numbers can exist , if a clash of Numbers occurs at a meeting, one owner must add a prefix of 1 to their sail number. All sail numbers must consist of two digits. Certain combinations can be misinterpreted , e.g., 80, in which case a prefix of 0 must be added, and therefore 80 will appear as 080.
2. Measurement
The purpose of measurement is to ensure that the particular yacht complies with the original purpose of the class, i.e., a level playing field for competition. For example, and IOM measurement in the UK can be entered anywhere on production of the Certificate of Measurement providing there has been no change to the fundamental measurements. The yacht, on presentation to the Official Measurer, must be equipped for sailing, i.e., complete with all on-board equipment including batteries, a deck limit mark and the registration number displayed on the upper surface of the hull and within the hull. Obviously this number must be accessible for inspection and must be displayed in a manner that cannot be removed, i.e., written in indelible ink or any other medium which in practical terms renders it permanent. The sails must also display the Class Insignia and registered numbers in the correct positions.
3. Weight
The total weight in racing trim, for example the IOM, must be a minimum of 4 kilograms. This is to include a maximum weight for the fin and lead bulb of 2500g and the rudder, 75g, as stipulated in the Class rules. All additional sets of rigs with sails may need supplementary weights.
